Dear Vintage Fashion Lovers,
Good September Sunday Morning!
I am a passionate fashion photography addict. The images tell such succulent fashion history stories. I love the photography from era's when instant fixes and funky filters were future dreams - the shot had to be right from the get-go.
The pioneers of fashion photography are many, many, but one stands out for me on this lovely Sunday...
Regina Relang (1906-1989) was an important and inspired German fashion photographer from the post-war era. She began her career with Vogue in 1938 - this fabulous shot of a model in Paris wearing Elsa Shiaparelli was one of her first. ohlala.
Regina Relang studied painting and fine arts in Berlin in the early days of her career. She became friends with photographer Willy Maywald, and moved to Paris in 1932. As a self-taught photographer she sold travel and fashion photos and fashion news to major publications, and her photography was so fabulous and prolific she became a major influence and innovator in the field.
She received the German Order of Merit in 1978, and won numerous awards for her amazing work. The images - they speak more than a million words could say - her are a few of my favourites, as if I could choose as there are so very many! Perfection...
